Best of Wine Tasting
Home to over 30 wineries, the Lake Chelan Valley is one of the fastest emerging wine regions in Washington State. It was designated as an official American Viticulture Area (AVA) in 2009. Whether you are an experienced wine connoisseur or just learning about wine, you’re sure to have a fabulous time.
Guide to Lake Chelan Wine Tasting:
Step 1: Refer to the wine map provided in your Lookout vacation home, or pick one up from our Cottage Rental Office. Tasting room hours vary during the winter months, so you will want to confirm the hours when mapping out your day.
Step 2: Choose a designated driver for the day, or better yet, take advantage of the private wine tour companies and leave the driving to them!
Step 3: Pack bottles of water and snacks. Remember to drink 8oz of water for every glass of wine you consume. Crackers are a good way to clear your palate between wineries.
Step 4: Be flexible with your plans and have fun. Following is our recommended itinerary for a day of wine tasting:
Suggested Itinerary for Wine Tasting Tour:
Start your day of wine tasting on the south shore of the lake visiting Mellisoni Vineyards, Fielding Hills, and Nefarious Cellars. Stop for lunch at either Siren Song Wines or Karma Vineyard’s 18 Brix. During the spring, summer and fall months, meals are served on Karma’s patio among the vines. During the cooler months, take a seat by their cozy fireplace or treat yourself to a one-of -a-kind dining experience in the wine cave.
After lunch, work your way back to the north side of the lake. Heading west on Highway 150, you’ll pass Vin du Lac Winery & Bistro. This local favorite is an easy stroll from The Lookout, so you might want to save this stop for later.
Closer to Manson you’ll find a number of wineries, but some of our favorites are Tildo, Hard Row to Hoe Vineyards, Cairdreas Winery, and Benson Vineyards.
Although there are too many wineries to possibly visit in one day, you’ll have an excuse to return. Cheers!
