Best of November in Chelan

November brings out two types of people: those who want to hang onto fall (or even summer, admit it!) and those who are ready to fling right into winter festivities. Luckily, Chelan welcomes both types, with pretty foliage and hints of harvest, plus a holiday kickoff that can’t be beat. Get the details to plan your trip here!

What is the forecast?
While blue skies are still prevalent, hats and scarves are often called for. The average temperature is 44 degrees and 6 days of precipitation. November is a “will-it or won’t-it?” month when it comes to snow! Some years see a dusting, perhaps in time for a Thanksgiving flag-football match out in the park.

What is there to do?
Don’t wait until Thanksgiving to enjoy all the delicious food and drink! November is a perfect month to gather in a local winery, brewery, coffee shop, restaurant, or at your vacation home to get full and cozy. A few suggestions: Succession Wines, Local Myth Pizza, and Rootwood Cider Company

If you want to work off your indulgence, get outside for a brisk hike before snow hits in the Echo Ridge Trail system, bike into downtown Chelan, or just walk down to the Lookout waterfront and back up (trust us, you’ll huff and puff at least a bit!). If you’re here for Thanksgiving weekend, join us for The Lookout’s 5th annual Turkey Trot (kids and four-legged friends welcome!).

What events are happening?
The end of the month is packed with events – might we suggest planning a visit for the week of Thanksgiving and the weekend after? Wine events meet Christmas kickoff…maybe you’ll run into Santa wine tasting!

The Sip and Stroll event is just as it sounds! Wander through the shops downtown while you taste local wine and cider on November 23rd from 4 to 7 pm.

November 29 through December 1 is Fall Barrel Tasting, where you can sample new reds straight from the barrel and often meet the winemakers themselves.

On Friday the 29th, Santa arrives in Chelan (don’t worry, he’ll be back again in December) with much fanfare: a parade, tree-lighting, caroling, and fireworks show at 8 pm!

And make sure to save room for this charming small-town event on Saturday, November 30: Christmas breakfast with Santa and Mrs. Claus! Find all the pancakes, eggs, and bacon, plus storytelling, crafts, and music downtown.

Bring your friends and family to Chelan for all the fall-into-winter fun. Thinking of hosting your Thanksgiving here? Check out our blog post for tips and ideas
