While we don’t like to pick favorites, we have to say October in Chelan is a very special month. Officially in its autumn glory, the Chelan Valley is bursting with rich colors, flavors, and smells that make you feel more connected to nature, and appreciative of the changing seasons. This is a great month to plan a couples trip or getaway with friends (hint hint: adults-only to enjoy the many seasonal beverages!) What is the October forecast at Lake Chelan?
Sun, still. You’ll be pleasantly surprised when you look up October weather in Chelan. An average of just three rainy days leaves the rest of the month with mostly blue skies and sunshine that still feels toasty. The average temperature is in the mid-60s, so being outside is perfectly pleasant.
What is there to do in October at Lake Chelan?
Many of Chelan’s outdoor activities are still available – golf, biking, boating, and hiking. Since the summer rush is over, you may find you have the trail, course, or even the lake to yourself!
But what really sets this month apart is the fall harvest. September and October are the months for apples, nectarines, beets, melons, corn, berries, onions, squash, greens – even local cheese and honey. From roadside farm stands to downtown restaurants to wineries and cideries, the freshest of the season is everywhere you look, and taste.
Spend time learning about what makes the Valley unique, like the climate that supports over 200 acres of wine grapes and over 10,000 acres of fruit trees, or the family history behind many of the area’s small businesses. This year, the weekend’s of October 4th & 5th and 10th &11th are Lake Chelan Crush events. Each winery has their own hours and varying ways to participate – some have outdoor-only tables or reservation systems, others will have ways to watch grape-crushing or take tours.
