Winter Itinerary – Family Fun Day in Chelan

One of the best things about a vacation is quality time together as a family—that is, if you all agree on an activity! Thankfully in Chelan, there are so many things to do—that you’ll find something for everyone, even in the winter. Check out our ideas for how to spend a winter family day at Lake Chelan.

Morning: Cook a big breakfast at your vacation home rental. Fully-stocked with all the appliances and cookware you need, it’s easy to treat the kitchen like it’s your own (or maybe even more organized than your own: there are cabinet labels for where everything belongs!) Many Lookout rental homes have large islands with seating, and long dining tables, so you get everyone involved in the pancake-flipping and egg-scrambling and then eat the most important meal of the day, together.

Mid-day: To burn off breakfast calories and energy, start the day with some exercise. If there’s snow, you don’t want to miss the awesome loop trails at Echo Ridge, perfect for snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, or just stopping around in your boots. There are all-levels options and rewarding views. Even without snow on the ground, this area is great for hiking, or if you prefer to be closer to your Lookout vacation home, the 1 mile walk into downtown, the Riverwalk Park Loop, or the Chelan River Trail are all easy walks for all ages.

Another way to please the kids, and the kids at heart: sledding! Check out the Lake Chelan Municipal Golf Course for a small neighborhood hill, or Echo Valley for an official tubing experience (and downhill skiing, too!)

Whether you need a nap, get a snack, or warm up, your Lookout vacation rental is conveniently located just a mile from downtown, 10 minutes from Manson, and 15 minutes from the ski recreation areas.

Afternoon: When you’re ready to venture out again, head downtown to Chelan Lanes for some good old fashioned family fun. This bowling alley features 10 lanes, huge TVs, pool tables, and arcade games, plus a full food and drink menu. And if you’re in town on a Thursday, check out their Throwback Thursday special, with $3 bowling and menu specials! Or get in on their daily happy hour pizza specials, and dinner is covered.

Evening: Back at The Lookout, spend your evening swimming and hot tubbing, playing games, or watching a move at your vacation home. For dessert, bundle up and head to the outdoor fireplaces (or your home’s firepit), and roast s’mores while you reminisce about the great family day you just had!
